God Searches All Hearts

"...for the LORD searches all hearts and understands every plan and thought..."
- 1 Chron. 28:9

God "searches all hearts." The Creator of heaven and earth, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, He "searches all hearts." To search is to go or look or examine with the purpose of discovering. He does that with every heart. There is not one heart that God does not examine.

Why would God search our hearts? Is it not to see if we shall live uprightly before Him? Yes! God takes great pleasure in the upright heart. And He examines each of us to know who, like His servant David, shall walk before Him uprightly, follow His commands and live with whole hearted devotion unto Himself.

Samuel tell's us in 1 Sam. 16:7 that "God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." He is looking for men who love Him, devoted to Him and follow Him. The Scripture state in 2 Chronicles 16:9 that God's "eyes move to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward Him." He is searching for hearts that are completely devoted to Him and fully committed, that He may strengthen.

He is not concerned with foolish things like we are in the church. God cares not about a dress code. He cares not about contemporary music versus Hymns. The LORD does not look at what denomination one attends. God is concerned with a man's heart! And His eyes are roaming the whole earth looking for individuals who have a heart like David to strengthen and support.

The truth is, there is no where man can escape the roaming eye of God. According to Psalm 139, God has searched us and knows us all. Can anyone escape the omnipresent Spirit of God? No. David wrote, "If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Shoel, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. If I say, 'surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night, even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you." God knows all. God sees all. He knows our hearts and has examined them.
